Watch Max Landis’ short film, ‘The Death and Return of Superman’
You sometimes have to wonder about a screenwriter’s geek cred. Are the people penning Marvel and DC adaptations in it because they’re big fans of the series or because of the big paychecks involved?
With Max Landis, scribe of last weekend’s box-office blue-ribbon winner Chronicle, you don’t need to wonder. Landis loves and cares about superhero comics. That’s why he was so distraught over Superman’s death and Jesus-esque resurrection (long hair and all) in the nineties, so distraught that he made a short film elaborating on his distress.
The film is so humorous and, in its own way, emotionally distressing for comic fans that to describe it any further would ruin its impact. So have a look here:
