Trailer: Prometheus

Never before have I seen trailers for a trailer, but the buzz and interest swirling around Prometheus may justify the pomp. Still, what does this trailer tell us about the film that is, as of now, nearly 6 months away? Well, not much, but we do know that the film shares DNA with Alien, and now we’ve seen just how visually similar the two projects are. In short, it’s Ridley Scott, homage-ing himself with a space horror epic. We also know that, despite the trailer, this isn’t going to be some dim summertime popcorn picture filled with special effects and little else. The Scott name half assures that, but the cast is filled with an enviable roster of true actors, from Idris Elba, Guy Pearce, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Patrick Wilson, and Noomi Rapace.

Enough of my blather. You’ve already waited months, heard all the crumbs from people tightly and loosely associated with the film, and sat through three pre-trailer trailers. You have been teased enough, so here now is the Prometheus trailer.

Official Synopsis:

Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.
