New Production Diary From ‘The Hobbit’

The latest production diary from the upcoming The Hobbit films is now live for your viewing pleasure. This is the only slice of the production you’ll likely hear during this Comic-Con week as the film will not be represented on the show floor. With such a large property you’d expect it to have a minor presence, but Peter Jackson posted some rationale to his Facebook:

Good news and bad news today. Bad news is that we won’t be doing any Hobbit presentation at Comic Con in San Diego this year. New Line and Warner Bros were very happy to support a presentation, but I declined, simply because I felt it was too early. There’s so much more of the films still to shoot. I just wanted to get that out there, because I’ve seen various references to the possibility of something Hobbity at Comic Con. Hate to disappoint anyone. But something tells me we will be there in force next year.

With over a year to go before we see the first half of The Hobbit it’s nice to have these production diaries and photos to tease us of the many things we’ll see when the films are finally released. Based on the extensive Lord of the Rings extended editions all of this footage (And much more) will eventually make it’s way to Blu-ray and DVD.
