Check out Whedon’s ‘The Cabin in the Woods’ trailer
The Cabin in the Woods
Release Date: April 13, 2012 (FINALLY)
Director: Drew Goddard
Cast: Richard Jenkins, Bradley Whitford, Chris Hemsworth, Fran Kranz, Kristen Connolly, Amy Acker, Tom Lenk, and Brian White
This one has been chained to a chair in MGM’s attic for years, but Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard’s (Cloverfield) allegedly genre-bending horror flick now seems primed for release. A new teaser poster (below) came out last week and now we’ve got the first look at the film in the form of this trailer.
I have to admit, I still have nearly no idea what this movie is about apart from the increasingly impressive cast (Hemsworth’s addition seems wiser and wiser everyday), the setting, and the fact that it looks like it is going to be an outright buffet of genre staples presented in a thrilling and unique way. And I dig that. For someone who has a geek army (I think I’m a Second Lieutenant, twice removed) and 47 websites dedicated to him, Whedon can keep things hush hush. The out-of-nowhere Much Ado hullabaloo proves that, and in this era of leaked on set photos and stolen scripts we could use a few secrets and surprises. Also, it’s Joss, so who amongst us needs more than that to earn our admission?
Here’s the cryptic official synopsis:
Five friends go to a remote cabin in the woods. Bad things happen.
If you think you know this story, think again. From fan favorites Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard comes THE CABIN IN THE WOODS, a mind blowing horror film that turns the genre inside out.
