The Rundown: ‘Thor’ gets a director, ‘Bad Ass’ gets a trailer

With Patty Jenkins tossed overboard, and Natalie Portman reportedly mad enough to go all V for Vendetta on Marvel, the studio had to pick a new director, and fast. Their choice: Alan Taylor, a longtime TV director who has helmed episodes of Game of Thrones, The Sopranos, Mad Men, and Lost, to name a few. Thor 2 will mark Taylor’s first feature since 2003′s Kill the Poor, a concept that was recently adapted into a whispered catch phrase used by some on the far right.

Thor 2 is set to open in Novemeber 2013 with Chris Hemsworth and Portman signed on to reprise their roles. Hemstworth will, of course, be seen next as Thor in Marvel’s The Avengers on May 4, 2012.

Danny Trejo has become cult movie royalty since his turn in the silly yet awesome Machete Grindhouse “trailer” and the ensuing film that cast Robert Deniro as Elmer Fudd alongside Trejo in the title role. Now we have Bad Ass a film based on the true story of an old bearded dude who became a viral video sensation for cracking skulls on a city bus. Trejo does just that in the trailer and then he becomes a cross between Batman (fanny packs and utility belts = the same thing), D-Fens from Falling Down, and a Steven Seagal wet dream. The film co-stars Charles S. Dutton, and Ron Perlman. Check out the trailer below.
